Bernardo T. Pedere is the artistic director and choreographer of the Filipiniana Dance Troupe, formed in 1969 and whose name means "things Philippine." The group, which has grown from its original membership of four couples to nationally known dance troupe, has performed at Pope John Paul's visit to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge 50th anniversary.
Filipiniana focuses on rural folk dance from various Phillipine islands and the Spanish Colonial influences on indigenous styles. Bernardo and the group performed in 1998 for the Traditional Arts Program of the California Acadmey of Sciences.
Dances Bernardo has taught include Alahoy, Alegrito, An Marol, Ba-Ingles, Baruray, Binislakan, Esperanza, Himig Sa Nayon, Jota Pangasinana, Jotabal, Lubi-Lubi, Magkasuyò, Manang Biday, Panchita, Paso Doble, Paso Doble Buraweño, Polka sa Nayon, Polka Sala, Pukol, Sakuting, Tacon y Punta Danza, Tiklos, and Tinolabong.
