Grace Perryman Nicholes and Nick NicholesGrace Perryman Nicholes Grace Churcher Perryman Nicholes was born on 28 December, 1906, in Fresno, California. She learned early California dances steps from her mother, Señora Manuela Perez de Churcher.

When Grace was temporarily out of a job as a physical educator, she turned her talents to public recreation and the teaching of folk dance.

Her nephew, Hans E. Hansen, wrote, "She was married to my uncle, Leland "Nick" Nicholes. When I was a child she and my uncle had really fun Christmas parties at their house in San Francisco. They would invite all of the family, which included numerous nieces and nephews, and I remember that she would dance for us. She was so talented and a really special loving person. We all miss her, especially at Christmas."

Grace Nicholes died quietly and peacefully at a rest home near Fresno, California, on September 5, 2001.
