Dale Hyde Dale Hyde Dale Hyde taught at dance camps and workshops throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He was Head of the Dance Department at the Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto and has taught folk dance at several universities and teacher certification courses for the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and the Performing Arts Educators of Canada.

He taught at the Ontario Folk Dance Camp, Manitoba Folk Dance Camp, Mainwoods, and the Nova Scotia Dance Camp. He choreographed Canadian Dance Suites for dance groups who represented Canada at international festivals.

He lectured at a number of summer courses for the University of Toronto and Western Ontario, sharing his knowledge and skills with other teachers. As an elementary school teacher, he enriched the education of his students by introducing them to many cultures through folk dance as a classroom experience, and a theatre experience performing around the community. Dale was director/choreographer for Canadian Dance Tapestry and taught folk dance in nearby Hamilton.

Dale published two collections of Canadian dances, one from the French communities in Ontario and Manitoba and one of Ontario dances.

Dale collapsed while dancing in Hamilton, Ontario on October 5, 2018. He was 72 years old. He was a leader, teacher, and master ceramist, excelling at anything he did, and was generous to show others his crafts.

Dances Dale taught include Beaver Dance, Bunkhouse Reel, Canadian Breakdown, Canadian Progressive Barn Dance, Crochet Dance, Cross-Country Waltz, Do-si-do Reel, The Long Potato, Lumberman's Reel, Maritime Big Set, The Mayflower, Navy Island Reel, Rustic Dance, St. Catherine's Bay Cotillion, and West Mabou Figures 1, 2, & 3.
