Zoltán Farkas and Ildikó Tóth

Zoltán Farkas was born in 1956 in Nagykanizsa, Hungary. In 1970, he became a pupil of the folk dance faculty of the Hungarian State Ballet Academy which was the first one with such an education in Hungary. Zoltán graduated there and bacame the member of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, first as a dancer, later as a solist and choreographer. He left the State Ensemble in 1984 and established his own group, the Kodaly Chamber Dance Ensemble as the artistic co-leader and choreographer.
Zoltán created dance-theater productions of which the most well-known choreographies are "Our Traditions" and "Hommage a'Bartok."
In 1992 he began working with Muzsikas, together with Ildikó Tóth, as the dance-solists and choreographers of the Muzsikas concerts. Meanwhile, they travelled to many amateur and professional Hungarian dance ensembles in Europe, North and South America, and Asia to make dance-courses and making choreographies for them.
Zoltán worked out his own method to teach dances and he wrote two books of this method.
Zoltán is the choreographer of two movies: "Szól a vilég" and the opara-film "Bénk Bén."
Ildikó Tóth was born in Bekescsaba, Hungary in 1962. She beagn dancing in the amateur Alba Regia Folkdance Ensemble. She became the member of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble in 1982.
Ildikó left the Ensemble in 1994 together with Zoltán, and ever since she has been the artistic partner and Zoltán's wife. They have one daughter.
Zoltán and Ildikó taught at the California University of the Pacific Folk Dance Camp (now Stockton Folk Dance Camp) in 1987.
Dances Zoltán and Ildikó have taught include Dunamenti Friss Csárdás, Dunamenti Lassú Csárdás, Dunamenti Ugrós, Kalocsai Mars, Magyar Verbunk, Mezöföoldi Ugrós, Szatmári Friss Csárdás, Szatmári Lassú Csárdás, Selyem Csárdás (Uszodi Verbunk), and Szatmári Cycle.
