Springtime Folklore Camp Springtime Folklore Camp The Springtime Folklore Camp was a limited, one-time effort of Diki Shields and was held on March 19 to 24, 1978.

The camp was held at Pilgrim Pines Camp and Conference Center, 16 miles from Redlands, past Oak Glen, and on Glen Road in the beautiful pines of San Bernardino National Forest.

The camp featured teaching by Billy Burke (Balkan), Rich Duree (Hungarian), Rosie Peña (Mexican), and Israel Yakovee (Israeli). Each teacher presented a folklore session during the week, as well as dance material for all levels and a session on teaching techniques.

Each evening featured a different international party with costumes and ethnic food, singing sessions, and Easter egg (Pysanky) dyeing.
